Decluttering Tips Part 2
for Organizing Your Thoughts
So You Can Dream Again!

Decluttering Tips Part 2 for Organizing Your Thoughts So You Can Dream Again!

Ready for Decluttering tips, Part 2? Did you do part 1? Great let’s go…

After losing everything 3 times, I mean EVERYTHING (don’t ask), I decided I won’t let it get me down. I wasn’t going to allow it to define who I am. Although I can “do depression” well, (I can probably be the poster child for it), I have something in me that fights to move on and move up and move forward. And I hope I can help you with that too.

Now with yesterday’s homework in hand… let’s dream. Imagine yourself doing what you’ve dreamed about. See yourself doing it. For me it was being a writer. I love writing. But I always had a fear of sending it out there. I remember John Maxwell saying, “get your first failure out of the way.”

For me, I had to get my first rejection letter out of the way. So I worked and worked and worked on my first masterpiece, “Take a Jesus Break.” I hired an editor to edit it and sent it to a large Christian Magazine. 2 months later, I didn’t get a rejection letter I got an acceptance letter.

With that, I worked on other pieces “to get my first rejection letter.” Oddly, every article was accepted. Today, I have articles in some of the largest publications and have my first book out because I invested in myself.

None of that would have happened if I didn’t sit down to write. I had to take lots of classes, I had to have editors rip apart my work, I had to say no to having coffee with friends, and not to sitting in front of the TV so I could have what I wanted, but I did it and it’s paid off.

You can have your dreams too… If you want something bad enough you will work towards it. For example, if I gave you an all expense paid trip to Hawaii you would go no thought about what needs to be done at home or work right? The same goes for investing in your future. A small step today leads to huge success tomorrow.

Ready to Dream? Ready to Invest in Yourself? Go for it, I’ll be waiting for you here – looking forward to applaud you and cheer you on!

Best of Success,

Kelly

P.S. Don’t forget to let us know what you are dreaming about and are going to start working on.

Decluttering Tips
for Organizing Your Thoughts
So You Can Dream Again!

Decluttering Tips for Organizing Your Thoughts – So You Can Dream Again!

You can succeed at anything you want! These decluttering tips are to help you decide what you really want out of life, where you want to go, and think about what you want to do with your life.

It’s easy to let life pass by while we do all the things we need to do. We have to care for our kids and spouse and home, we need to work and so forth, but what if you could do everything and do what you’ve longed to do with it? It starts with deciding what is important to you.

Most of the time we don’t think about it because we just don’t have time… but what if I showed you that you can dream again, would you do it?

Over the next couple of weeks I am going to assign “homework.” These are going to help you learn a bit about yourself. My mother used to say to me, “Kelly, you need to care for yourself because no one else will do it for you.” It took me years to take her advice, and I’m glad I did. Today, I am doing what I love most (but still have a long way before I’m doing everything). What is it that you want - What would be your ideal outcome?

Take a moment to think about the 5 things you’ve longed to do, write it down.

Identifying Options - So now you know what you want, answer these questions:

 What specifically have you done so far? What worked and what didn’t?

 What do you have already (eg. skills and resources) that could move you forwards?

 What research could you do to help you find the first (or next) step?

 What do you need to do before you do anything else?

 Who else could you ask for help in achieving your goal?

 If you were at your best, what would you do right now?

 What would you do if you were an expert in (the area of your goal/problem)?

 What would you advise your best friend to do if they were in your situation?

 What would your best friend advise you to do?

 What would (someone who inspires you) do in your situation?

 If you had a choice what would you do?

 What if you had as much time as you needed?

 What if money were not an issue?

 Imagine you’re fully confident in your abilities, what could you do?

 Imagine you’re fully confident that others will support you. Now what could you do?

 What other angles and options have you not thought of yet?

 What is an impossible option?

 What is the decision you have been avoiding?

 If you (secretly) knew the answer to getting unstuck, what would that be?

Happy Decluttering Your Mind and Living Your Dreams,

Kelly

Decluttering Tips:
Mastering Clutter in the Kitchen

Decluttering Tips: Master Clutter in the Kitchen

Clutter sucks. (Can I say that?) It overwhelms us, steals our joy; it creates irritability; it stresses us; it clutters our thoughts; it causes more clutter and so much more. But why do we do it? Without creating a 229 page dissertation of the psychological profile of a clutterer (that you won’t read anyway ), my theory is simple: it’s easier. But deep down in us we don’t want to do it or be that way. I’ve learned that (at least for me) it’s an ongoing process that I have to work on daily. Hi, my name is Kelly, and I create clutter. Did you have the urge to say, “Hi, Kelly?”

Okay moving on… :0). I know if I set mini goals for small cleaning projects I will get things done. Try these ideas:

Decluttering Tips for the Kitchen:

  1. Create a Master Kitchen List

   a. List each drawer, cabinet, shelf, counter, microwave, refrigerator, freezer and so forth.    i.Eg: 1st cabinet above stove, 2nd cabinet above stove, silverware drawer, etc.

  2. Plan to invest just 7 minutes each day cleaning/organizing just one drawer or cabinet. (it’s a great psychological trick I do with myself – because I know I can squeeze 7 minutes in any part of my day).

In just one month you will have an organized kitchen!

You can do this with any room too. Just create a Master List for whatever room you want to declutter and in no time you will have a clean and organized home.

Happy Organizing!

Kelly

P.S. Don’t forget to let me know how you did. And if you have any fun organizing tips tell us about it! I love, love, love reader comments.

Declutter Your Home!

Declutter Your Home!
Looking for ways to declutter your home? I’ve got good news. It’s not as hard as you think. I’ve spent years mastering the decluttering bug. I’ve came up with some fun ways to declutter your home without feeling the pain of it. Are you ready? Great, let’s go!

1. Have a junk drawer that won’t shut? Set the timer for 5 minutes. Now take out everything you want to keep during those 5 minutes. Once the buzzer goes off, take the junk drawer and dump it in the trash. Put everything you want to keep back.

2.Google: http://e.ggtimer.com but add a slash with the minutes you want to time eg. http://e.ggtimer.com/15minutes a screen will pop up with a timer that counts down. With that in mind, every day decided to clean out one drawer or cabinet. When the timer goes off stop and return to finish the next day. Although, what happens to me is I keep working – I just needed the oomph to get moving. :)

3. I’ll talk more about this later but here is a sneak peak… everyday remove/throw out/sell/donate 5 things that you no longer use or want. If you do this every day for one month you will have a decluttered home in 1 year!

Okay, how’s that for a starter? Let me know your ideas or how you survived your decluttering your home.

Have fun!
Kelly

Exhausted? After Christmas Blues?

Are you asking yourself, "why did I do that to myself again?" So many women double and even triple the amount of work they do during the holidays -- so everyone can have a beautiful Christmas. But at what cost? And did they? Did you? Did your family? We wear ourselves out or experience extreme exhaustion. During the holidays I learned over the years to say "no" to a lot of things. It wasn't easy. Many people were disappointed in me. I missed out on a lot of the fun stuff (at least that was what I thought).
I realized the price was too heavy for me and my family. Life went on and people learned that I wasn't the one who said "yes" to helping, cooking, planning, organizing, and everything else. And you know what? They got along just fine without me. My best advice is to get some well deserved rest, care for yourself for the next few days and then plan something fun for you and your family. And plan on saying yes to the things you truly enjoy and no to a few things -- your family and your health will thank you for it! :).
